Axl Rose led Guns N' Roses to the Far East to start a world tour in support of the rock band's 2008 album Chinese Democracy. GNR fans wildly enjoyed the music shows.

Guns N' Roses, the legendary LA band that burst into the 1980s heavy rock and punk metal scene like a rocket queen riding a nightrain into the paradise city with their classic 1987 album, Appetite for Destruction, have been receiving a wildly enthusiastic reception from Guns N' Roses fans in East Asia lucky enough to see the band as they finally begin their tour to support 2008's Chinese Democracy album.

Only vocalist Axl Rose remains from the classic original Guns N' Roses line-up that survived the LA jungle to revolutionise the 1980s heavy rock music scene with Appetite for Destruction, although keyboardist Dizzy Reed has been a member of the band since 1990 and played on the Use Your Illusion albums.

Guns N' Roses is now largely seen as a vehicle for the controversial creative genius of Axl Rose, although Rose has stressed that they are a proper band and he doesn't make all the decisions.

Joining Axl Rose and Dizzy Reed for the Chinese Democracy tour are:

  • Tommy Stinson on bass. Stinson has been with Guns N' Roses since 1998.
  • Chris Pitman on various instruments. Pitman has also been with Guns N' Roses since 1998.
  • Richard Fortus on guitar. Fortus joined Guns N' Roses in 2002.
  • Ron 'Bumblefoot' Thal on guitar. Thal has been with Guns N' Roses since 2006.
  • Frank Ferrer on drums. Ferrer joined Guns N' Roses in 2006.
  • DJ Ashba on guitar. Ashba joined Guns N' Roses in 2009.

Guns N' Roses East Asian Tour 2009

Guns N' Roses started the Chinese Democracy tour in the Taipei City Stadium, Taiwan on December 11th. Axl Rose said he would have also liked to visit China, but they are apparently banned because of political repercussions stemming from the album and tour title.

Two days later Guns N' Roses rocked the Seoul Olympic Stadium for the South Korean date on the tour, before finishing the tour with two dates in Japan. The first was at the Kyocera Dome in Osaka on December 16th, and the final 2009 date in East Asia was at the Tokyo Dome on December 19th.

Reports, photos and videos of the Guns N' Roses concerts in East Asia have been relayed across the world, and enjoyed by fans via websites such as the Guns N' Roses fan site: chinesedemocracy.com.

The shows have been lasting for over three hours, with a balanced set featuring a mixture of songs from the Chinese Democracy album alongside old classics and a few covers.

Guns N' Roses Canadian and World Tour

Guns N' Roses will rest over the American holiday period before embarking on the Canadian leg of the tour from January 13th to February 4th. Latin America has been pencilled in for March and April as the next destination on the Chinese Democracy world tour.
